This stunning photo captured the rising beaver moon on November 5th 2025. The cliffs are a beautiful sight you see as you drive on route 30 in Schoharie County, NY. I unexpectedly captured this moment as the sunset was illuminating the fall foliage at just the perfect time.
I caught a glimpse of this while simply walking through my house and I ran to the camera. The breathtaking moments arrive so suddenly and unexpectedly.
Where the moon meets the valley I too meet my self
The authentic beauty in silence
My quiet mind my still heart ❤️
The creation of Schoharie Valley was formed over a long period of time. Its beauty was primarily shaped by glacial activity that created a lake in a broad, flat valley floor, and the erosion by Schoharie Creek. The Appalachian mountain-building process also played a role by sloping the land northward, turning the Schoharie Creek into a tributary of the Mohawk River.
The beaver moon was also considered a supermoon. The reality of the name beaver moon derives from the alignment with the beavers actively building thier dams for winter. This supermoon was the last one for 2025 and appeared much larger than normal. This was it's closest point to earth in its orbit.
